The beer will continue to improve and be better for this deal. “We were courted by several groups and I advocated for ABI (Anheuser-Busch) since the beginning. Oliver confirms he will remain part of the brewery stating it opens brand new opportunities for the company: Brewmaster Jason Oliver brought his in-depth knowledge of European mashing techniques to create Devils Backbone’s varied catalog highlighting German and English style beers. Crandall hopes to that the company will eventually produce 252,000 barrels a year with AB-Inbev’s support. In 2015, the two locations hosted more than 500,000 guests.ĭevils Backbone produced 62,000 barrels of beer last year using a fully automated German Rolec brewing system and they are projected to sell between 92,000 and 95,000 barrels in 2016. AB listened to us and believed in us.” Devils Backbone Basecamp Brewpub & Meadows (Photo courtesy of Devils Backbone) People drive to get here and want to stay on the property but we couldn’t spend any money on it because everything was going to capacity. The investment in capacity was stretching us pretty darn thin, to the point that we were putting money into capacity versus filling the potholes in our road.” “We’ve been incredibly fast growing, and with growth came expense. Steve Crandall, the CEO and co-founder of Devils Backbone, has stated the desire for a buyout came from the company’s rapid expansion in 2015: Over the course of 18 months, AB-Inbev has gained six new breweries for The High End brand, the last one being Breckenridge Brewery in Littleton, Colorado. The Summit is a pretty enough space that you don't need to do too much in the way of decor, either. The food we chose was all delicious (you're allowed to have your chosen dessert made at an outside bakery, but otherwise you are eating Devils Backbone food), and they'll work with you to make sure the menu is just how you want it. We just wanted a simple reception with a buffet dinner & mingling, so the Summit was perfect for that. We chose to have a standing ceremony, but you are able to rent chairs if so desired. It is isolated from the main Devils Backbone campus, so it is private & quiet, and it has a beautiful backdrop of the mountains behind. There is a wooden arbor provided in the outdoor area in the back yard of one of the on-site houses, which are lovely and we rented (Three Ridges Haven & Retreat). However, if you have more people than that at your wedding, you are able to rent a tent to cover the outside area around the Summit to accommodate them. Devils Backbone was the absolute perfect place to host our intimate wedding this March! We had approximately 35-40 guests, which was the perfect amount of people for the outdoor ceremony venue and the Summit reception area.
